Lot and Wool 2013

This weekend was the second edition of the Lot et la Laine festival in Sauliac sur Célé. Two years ago, I had already gone to their first edition. This year I went back with two of my girlfriends to enjoy this event together.

The site of the castle of Cuzal where the festival takes place is two hours from Toulouse. Departure in the morning and equipped for the heat of the lot: light clothes, glasses and sunscreen. Leaving the A20 motorway at Cahors, the road to Sauliac is beautiful and just to enjoy the valleys of the Lot and Cele, I recommend the detour!

On the site of the festival about sixty exhibitors. Breeding, production, spinning, felting, dyeing, creation … all the stages of the sheep to my needles are represented here. It was in a good atmosphere and on a nice site that we spent about 5 hours sailing from stand to stand, between shopping, workshop and small breaks under the trees.

The worsted wool of Maco Marinos: from cloud to bag!

Among my darlings of the day: the vibrant colors of the natural dyes of the wools Renaissance Dyeing ; the alpacas of Quercy too crunchy and the great look of Suris from France ; the hyper-realistic creations of Citronelle-Eglantine ; the magnificent exhibition works of the stand of Cat Pelote and Co. as well as their warm welcome!

Here is finally the booty of the day!

For Sophie, two beautiful skeins from Renaissance Dyeing . A bag of wool of alpacas of Sologne for Émilie who also had the chance to win a beautiful wooden wool box at the contest Moments of Louise !

When to me, I also fell for three balls of wool of alpacas of Sologne , the kit Spectra Trenz from Knit Pro with its translucent acrylic needles super colored (hiiii!) I bought from Cat Pelote and Co. and how to make my debut as a dyer with the Greener Shades kit from Maco Merinos and two of their natural skeins.

We also all three participated in the dye workshop of Maco Merinos , but I’ll tell you all this in pictures in the next article 🙂
