How do I knit the edge stitches as a decorative edge?
Quite simply, that’s how it works:
In each row the Knit 1st stitch right crossed (pierce the stitch from behind).
The last stitch every row, the thread as to the left knitting put it in front of the needle, but do not knit the stitch on the left, but instead only take off ,
Pictures explain more than a thousand words, so will the first stitch knitted:
Insert the knitting needle into the loop from the back …
… catch up on the thread …
… and let the stitch slide off the left needle.
The last stitch each row is lifted:
Knit the thread as if to the left before the needle …
.. with the knitting needle like to knit left in the stitch …
… do not knit the stitch, just lift it on the right needle.
What are the advantages of this edge stitch?
The resulting edge is:
- Ideal for stitching from the edge
- Nice as a decorative edge
- Forms a flexible end edge
